FOUR PURPLE HANZI and KANJI

Its Jacaranda time in Sydney but Jacaranda is not an Asian Plant.

Its actually an import from South America and yes it is very gorgeously purple an intense hue either dark or light and yes it looks like purple clouds when the trees are blossoming!

So I'm thinking about PURPLE when I look out my window as there are some magnificent trees nearby.

Also I'm thinking about #hanzi and #kanji

The primary word and character for the color purple in East Asian languages that use Sinitic characters or have loan words is surely

however there are a copy of other words

and also

finally Japanese poetry often mentions this plant with purple blossoms

If you k ow of other words for purple please contribute via the comments box.

Chiyo Horses Violets Haiku

#Chiyo #Horses #Violets #Haiku #Sumire #purple

A simple but elegant haiku is todays addition to the November Purple Theme Series

Kake izuru
Koma mo ashi kagu
Sumire kana

Kake galloping izure older / alternate form of deru
Koma young horses or ponies mo also ashi legs  kagu a verb scent smell sniff
Sumire Violets!

Spring time and perhaps Chiyo was walking thru the countryside and past a field of young horses who had come racing through long grasses mixed with flowers and and now are standing near a fence legs covered with scent due to trampling through a patch of violets?

Murasaki Prints

#purple #murasaki #japaneseprint #ukiyo-e

Purple is my November Theme so Lady Murasaki!

She is suppose to be at Ishiyama temple viewing the autumn moon though the artist has rendered the hills as Chinese style peaks? However it is an excellent illustration apart from that!
I also love the color balance of rich purple blue sky and strong grays!

More Murasaki and Four Fonts

I thought it might be useful to show people how the same hanzi appears in 4 different font styles each progressively heavier.

No they're not as elegant as brush work but consider this how you can further modify those characters using color  gradient and  texture filters and plugins in Inkscape or Gimp or whichever program you use?

Purple Rainbow ZI

How did I get this image! READ ON!

Inkscape's latest version  includes three different rainbow effect filter!

Start by generating a SVG file by entering  the Unihan code for this or any other character using text and then control U type the code  and hit enter.

Got your SVG? Up to the filters menu and then down to textures.

You might also want to add drop shadow at a very low setting plus 1 or use stroke as well?
